Decent sized grants available for catchment restoration projects. Going soon though.

Grants of £50,000 or more are available from the Catchment Restoration Fund which will provide up to £10 million each year for projects to be delivered in 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15.

The Environment Agency is looking to support projects to reduce the pollution that comes from the way land is used and improve the landscape through which water flows. Projects should support one of the following aims:
  • Restore more natural features in and around waters.
  • Reduce the impact of man-made structures on wildlife in waters.
  • Reduce the impact of small, spread-out (diffuse) sources of pollution that arise from rural and urban land use.
Projects can be funded for multiple years, but these will need to be structured for phased completion, and have specific delivery milestones within each financial year.

The lead applicant for funding must be a charity or an organisation with charitable, benevolent or philanthropic purposes under the Charities Act 2006. Organisations that do not meet this criteria, such as local authorities or private sector companies, can still be involved in delivering a project, but only as partners.

The Round One deadline for projects starting in 2012/13 is 29 February 2012.

Organisations with project ideas that are not yet fully developed at this stage can submit an Expression of Interest form rather than a full application. An application for funding in 2012/13 can still be made as a second application window will be open between 16 April 2012 and 18 May 2012.

We're re-focusing to meet the new challenges

There is unprecedented pressure on the voluntary and community sector in Shropshire and across the UK. We believe that resource management will be absolutley crucial to building sustainable and resilient communities and economies. So we're proposing to modify our aims to meet the challenges we face.
